2019 Topps Allen & Ginter

Manufacturer: Topps

Product: 2019 Topps Allen & Ginter Baseball

This is one of those sets that people either love or hate for one reason or another. Me? I just like it. It has some weird stuff to chase like Upper Deck’s Goodwin Champions.

Topps did well to boost the different items you can find in A&G this year. I love the addition of the Box Topper Rip cards that hold three different minis inside. I saw All Star Case Breaks rip one and inside was the 1/1 Jackie Robinson Sketch Card. It was a gorgeous card.

I was lucky enough for this review to get the Gold Foil Hot Box, one per case if I am not mistaken and they are very cool looking although my cards all seemed to be miscut or OC left to right.

I did get a 4 hit box though and if you will have to watch the video to see the RIP card I ripped. The rip card came from another box my son and I opened at the local card shop, The Card Shop.

Hope you liked the video and the hits!

2017 Leaf Trinity Baseball – Product Review

THE REVIEW

Manufacturer: Leaf

Product: 2017 Leaf Trinity Baseball

PRICE: $125.00/box

Logos or not, this set is pretty cool. I know when I first ran across it a few years ago, I was blown away by the patches and the list of prospect autos in the set.

It is early in the 2018 MLB Season so this product is ahead of the likes of Bowman. This helps collectors get their hands on some hot prospects that everyone is clamoring for.

I really like the set, one of a few with a price point that won’t really put you in the poor house.

2018 Topps Gypsy Queen – Product Review

THE REVIEW

Manufacturer: Topps

Product: 2018 Topps Gypsy Queen Baseball

PRICE: $100.00/box

Okay, so I have a confession.

I have been hooked on this product since 2012. I have been working on base sets on each year since then. I haven’t even finished the base set of 2012 and I need to just get that done.

So what do I like about it? Well, I am sure by now you can guess, I like the feel of these cards, the cardstock is nice and thick, and the look and feel? Forget about it. I love the stylized look of these.  I know I saw some early comments on other sites about people not liking the product design, but I am and always will be a fan. I liken it to Topps Magic, so I am glad this product line hasn’t disappeared.

Topps if you see this, keep this product line going.

If you are a fan of this product you will also have noticed the missing mini card boxes. I am on the fence about this set not being a part of the product this year. They were a pain to deal with and trying to build a set of those, good luck. I am sure some have done it, but I was not ready to fork over the money to do it. I guess, I am okay with dropping it.

The tarot cards, I will have likely mentioned it in the video above, I like this set and will be looking for lots for sale on ebay. I have tried to get some already, only to be outbid. I hope I can get this set done soon, maybe after the initial release excitement dies down, I may be able to get a deal on them then. Wish me luck.

Let me know what you think of the set by leaving your comment below, in the meantime, check out the helpful info below.

2017 Topps Chrome Baseball – Product Review

Manufacturer: Topps

Product: 2017 Topps Chrome Baseball

PRICE: $130.00/box

I can’t believe I did it. I had this case on ebay, trying to move it to squirrel away some money for a trip I would like to take, back to Hawaii. I want to share memories of growing up in Hawaii with my kids and selling this case would put a good dent in the cost of Aloha.

I had a few offers but they all seemed rather low and they were below actual SOLD cases on ebay. With my counteroffers matching recently sold prices being rejected, I decided… it was time to rip the case and turn this sucker into a product review.

During the video playback above, you can tell I was live, I had a few friends online and watching and cheering me on as I ripped through the case. For them and everyone else, I ripped into it like I was doing a break, trying my best to speed things along. A hint to you if you watch it after reading this. I do a quick recap at the end. Also, change the playback speed to 2x, this will make the break go even that much faster.

Now to the review. I always like to open Topps Chrome, not as much as Bowman Chrome, but pretty close. I like how flashy it is, how the card actually feels thick and solid in hand, and I love the base refractors, prizms, and various colors. I think the design and photo choices were done well and made it easy for me to read the names, recognized color refractors, and the pop of color on the back of the cards made this set fun to look at. It didn’t shy away from using color and I am happy that this set never really does.

In all the rip was fun but I have to be honest, thinking about putting money away from sales of cards from this case, I was bummed. I know the base cards will be fun to collate and possible trade to make a full base set, so that is cool, but boy, I kept thinking about how many shots of Mylanta I would have to take after the camera was turned off.

Check out the recap at the end of the video. I think the case was saved, and I hope you enjoyed the video and the information below.

Thanks,

Ryan
